Oooooo! Week 13! Unlucky for some? Not for my main character who, in chapters 16 and 17 this week, has managed to escape from the clutches of the evil baddie!
Not for me either as I have reached, and surpassed, the 20,000 word milestone!

It’s also the start of term which means it was back to two chapters per week for me. Bit of a shock after a relatively leisurely one chapter per week over the school holidays. I’m not back in book club until next week though. I’m really looking forward to that.
This week I have struggled to write a punchy escape scene. Not something I’ve really done before. It’s finished but let’s just say it needs some work! That will come round in the edit. There’s lots more action to write yet so it was good preparation for that.
I also had to reveal to my boss what I was doing this week as he brought a patient through for a hearing test to find me standing on one foot on tip toe, reaching up to the ceiling with one arm. I needed to write about what that felt like and it really helped to actually get up and do it. Poorly timed though!
This week I have mostly been fuelled by battenburg cake (and *some* wine) but I’m looking forward to next weeks book club snacks already!
